Word spread around at the base that if you were going to go out and get wasted on Saturday night, the place to do it was the neighboring town of Carterville Springs. Not that the beer in the bars there was any cheaper, but the Good 'Ol Boy Chief of Police there was real understanding. Instead of hauling your ass off to the town drunk tank if you'd tipped a few too many, he'd take young men in uniform to his own PRIVATE DRUNK TANK-(which happened to be in his garage.) There you could sleep it off and then be on your way in the morning--
NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND NO HASSLES.

The only catch was, when you'd wake up on the floor of that garage the next morning, you'd always find yourself buck naked. Even your socks and underwear were off! Since you appreciated the hospitality, and figured you'd probably need it again in the future,you just got back into unform and returned to base.
